The children have been exploring four sided shapes. They worked together to draw a giant castle made up of squares and rectangles, to use as a prop for the story St George and The Dragon. The story was told throughout the week and the children joined in the popular song, There Was A Princess, with joyful enthusiasm. Castles were also incorporated into our free play in the construction area, where the children were able to build their own using the wooden play blocks. Out in the garden, the children designed and built a large scale castle using logs, planks and a tarpaulin. They took turns to play different roles, such as the princess, a brave knight and the dragon.
