Transitioning to primary school

From the moment your child begins with us, we focus on nurturing their confidence, curiosity and independence, helping to ensure that when the time comes for them to leave us they are well prepared for school life.

Our rich curriculum, informed by the Early Years Statutory Framework and Birth-to-Five Matters, together with our holistic approach, ensures that children leave Ready Steady Go equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive at their next school.

School relationships

Our location in North-West London means that we benefit in having a large number of excellent schools on our doorstep.

Children move on to a range of different schools, parents choosing between state and independent, single-sex and co-educational. Over the years, we have established strong relationships with many schools, allowing us to provide valuable insights and recommendations to our families.

We will support you through the decision-making and application process and help you choose the school which feels right for your family.

Preparing for the 4+

Many private schools ask children to attend a 4+ assessment prior to any place offers being made for pre-prep entry. The majority of these assessments are a mix of free-play and group activities. The schools are looking at the child's interactions with both other children and teachers; their ability to follow instructions; and their interest, participation and engagement with the games and activities.

Ready Steady Go's holistic approach and wide curriculum inherently develop all of these skills, helping your child to manage their assessments confidently and successfully.

Our principal and teachers know the 4+ process, and are there to guide those families who choose this option for their child. Our aim is to ensure that all children leave Ready Steady Go with the foundations for lifelong learning in place – enabling them to thrive at whichever school they transition to.

Your child's next school

A key event every year, in the autumn term we host an evening dedicated to discussing future schools.

Our relationships with schools

Over the years, we have built strong relationships with many of the schools our children go on to attend after Ready Steady Go. These relationships allow us to provide valuable insights and recommendations to our families, ensuring that every child finds the school that best fits their unique needs and personality.
