Children start morning pre-school, usually in the term after they turn two. Many of them will have spent the previous year at Beginners, getting to know the teachers and elements of the READY STEADY GO day. Children generally transition to full days the following September.

“It’s wonderful to see the progress the children make across the year – starting tentatively and leaving full of confidence, with a joy for learning.”

“I love working with the youngest children, watching their friendships blossom as they learn how to be part of a group.”
Alex - Leader

“Thank you for the fabulous trip to the Science Museum.  It was superbly organized - seamless from start to finish - and the kids obviously enjoyed themselves. That a trip with seven 4-year-olds could be so calm and lovely is a testament to your teaching skills! It was a joy to watch the kids at the museum, and I was so impressed how you both constantly engaged with the children - encouraging them to think about the world around them - as well as constantly thought about ways to incorporate elements of the trip back at school. I left the trip knowing that the kids couldn't be in better hands for these formative years.”

The large, light, main hall is divided into distinct areas, including a role-play area, cosy book corner and large spaces for building, construction and art. Upstairs there are two separate rooms, one for quiet work sessions and the other for group times and soft play.

Glazed doors lead out into two outside spaces connected through a gate. One has bound wood chip flooring, providing a cushioned floor for physical activities.  The second space is a paved courtyard, with a large covered sand pit.

The youngest children have their own separate base off the main hall. This quieter, smaller space, with its own dedicated team, is holding for this age group, just beginning pre-school – which is why we call it Starters.

Early start

Children can start their day with us at 8.15am. They have breakfast together and enjoy a range of activities, including puzzles, reading and music.

Extended day

There are after-school sessions for older children, Monday-Thursday. They run straight on from the regular school day from 2–4.30pm.
